Celebrating Radiothon 2018 and Christmas at Kids Kottage
Without the support of our generous and amazing community, Kids Kottage would not exist, and we are never more aware of that than during the Christmas season.
For the entire month of December, we run our Radiothon campaign, bringing our community together in support of the deserving children and their families who rely on Kids Kottage, and each year, our community rallies in a way that far exceeds what we expect. This year, you rallied in a way that exceeded our wildest dreams.
Our goal for Radiothon 2018 was modest, because we know times are tough for all Albertans. We hoped we could reach $100,000.
Instead, as we accepted the last of the donations our amazing community had for us, we had collected an astounding and humbling $150,037. We don’t even have the words to express how grateful we are, how humbled and inspired and blown away we are. Exceeding our goal that way is such a high note to end 2018 on, and re-energizes us to get back to the work of keeping Edmonton-area children safe.
And that $150,037? It doesn’t even include the $50,320 that Paul Sadler Swimland raised for us and stopped by to drop off just before Christmas, or any of the schools, daycares, employee groups, social groups and families who dropped in with donations of diapers, toys, new and gently used clothing, food, puzzles, games, and gifts for our staff and the children who spend some time here.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. We could not do this without you, and we wouldn’t want to. Even when times are tough, Edmontonians come together to make sure our most vulnerable children have a safe place, and we are so thankful.
Thank you as well to Shine FM and 930AM The Light for supporting Kids Kottage and our Radiothon every single year since the beginning, to Dutch Delicious for providing the delicious cookies we decorated at Radiothon at West Edmonton Mall, and all of our Match Money donors!
