Now hiring: Executive Director
Kids Kottage, Edmonton’s only 24-hour crisis nursery, is currently searching for an Executive Director to lead and inspire the staff, community, donors and individuals we serve at the Kottage.
For over 20 years, the Kottage has been a safe place for children facing crises at home. We offer parents emergency respite care for their children for up to 72 hours, as well as support for the parents in navigating their way out of crisis, whether that’s dealing with issues of homelessness, addiction, mental health, the threat of family violence, poverty, or any of a number of issues that may lead to neglect or abuse if left unaddressed. After the children return home, we keep in contact with the family, ensuring parents have on-going support and home remains a safe place for children. We also offer other aspects of our programming to proactively address issues that may lead a family into crisis, including educational sessions on positive discipline and other aspects of parenting, food security and nutrition, and respite programs for families of children affected by FASD.
The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate a wide range of skills, including the ability to work with an involved Board of Directors, and to manage the administration, fund development and program staff. He or she will be an inspiring leader and communicator with a passion for the cause and for keeping children safe and families strong. The Executive Director will provide operational leadership, including goal-setting for staff and organization, budgeting, government relations and leading the grant-writing process. The ED will take primary responsibility for ensuring the program maintains its high level of commitment to children by always meeting and exceeding all government-mandated oversight.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
•A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
•Experience managing administrative, program, financial, strategic and board-related processes.
•Strong organizational abilities including planning, budgeting, and delegating
•Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations.
•Previous grant writing experience.
•Strong written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to coordinate and motivate a team of managers and staff
•Non-profit experience preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Benefits package included.
Position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Please submit your resume and cover letter to email@example.com
