The Crisis Line
24 Hour Crisis Line for families in need
Kids Kottage operates a 24/7, 365 days a year crisis line for parents, caregivers and families in need. Once contact is made with a family, our trauma-informed crisis call team assesses and classifies the situation as Priority 1, 2 or 3.
Priority 1 calls indicate imminent risk and a need for immediate action on behalf of the child. Our team works with the caller to understand how to best serve the family, whether that is through admitting the children to the Kottage, referring the family to one of our community partners, or providing appropriate support and encouragement. Children unable to be admitted due to a shortage of space are placed on a waiting list for pending admissions. Where necessary Alberta Childrens Services, police or responding agencies will be brought in to assist where children or caregivers are in danger.
Our Kids Kottage crisis line team is dedicated to ensuring children are space, families are supported and help is given to all in need.
