At Kids Kottage, we accept financial donations, as well as donations of brand new like items such as toys, books, electronics and gift cards. See our current wish list for an up to date list of items we need.

It takes a lot to provide for a safe space for children to go to and trained staff to care for them 24 hours a day. On our team we have crisis line staff, child care staff, team leads, cooks and housekeepers, and people to watch over the whole operation. We also have to pay for the lights and power, lease of our building, food and items for the kids, laundry facilities and beds and diapers and so much more. Your donation helps make it all possible.

We accept financial donations over the phone or online or in person. Monday thru Friday 9am-4pm at our Kids Kottage Administration building located at 10107 134 Avenue NW, Edmonton. We ask that you do not bring your donated items directly to the shelter as it is difficult for staff caring for children to stop and attend to.

Due to health safety guidelines, we cannot accept home baked goods or food products for our children. (But we do love it if you want to come volunteer in our kitchen and help make some cookies on site for the kids!) We DO accept unopened, food safe items such as meat, dairy, eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables, and pantry items. We focus on providing nutritious meals to children in our care with only occasional treats. Yes! For all new items that you are donating, please bring your receipt with you and we will be able to provide you with a charitable tax donation receipt. CRA requires that we keep the copy of the receipt for proof of new purchase.

Unfortunately, for most used items we are unable to provide a charitable tax receipt as per CRA guidelines. We can provide you with an acknowledgment of the item/s.

LARGE ITEMS - We are unable to accept most used items “larger than a microwave” as we have no place to warehouse these items. For used cribs, beds, strollers, baby items – we ask that you consider many of our partner organizations that operate thrift stores or are able to pass the items directly on to the families they work with.

VALUABLE ITEMS - For used items that have value (eg. Jewellery, paintings, properties) CRA requires that each item be appraised by an independent, certified appraiser. Items donated to Kids Kottage Foundation accompanied by a certified appraisal are eligible for a tax receipt for the fair market value of the item.

We welcome gently used toys and books for children up to age 11. Please do not bring any items that are broken or unusable. We appreciate your help considering if the toy is too violent for our little ones.

Gift cards hold the same value as cash and can be tax receipted for anyone submitting a copy of their receipt.

NOTE: Tickets to events or business coupons are not eligible for tax receipts in most circumstances. Please contact us at info@kidskottage.org

Due to client confidentiality and safety, our donors are not allowed to deliver gifts directly to clients. We do welcome you however to consider becoming a volunteer with us if you would like to work directly with the children.
