Kids Kottage Golf Classic 2013
The Golf Classic at the Edmonton Golf and Country Club was a resounding success! Yes, there were worries regarding the weather and, in fact, it poured rain during one short spell. Thereafter, though, the weather provided a good day for golf. Perhaps golfers hearts were warmed because their attendance would help make the lives of children better, help give vulnerable little ones a safe place to be when things at home become “out of control”, help ensure that when the cupboards are bare at home, tummies of children are filled with nutritious meals and snacks. It can only have made one feel fulfilled and satisfied to know that by their participation in the Kids Kottage Classic on Monday, August 26th, golfers made sure children in our community are held in high regard and their well-being is important.
Some were fortunate enough to find themselves golfing with one of our celebrities. Rod Philips, Al Hamilton, Rob Brown, Dave Lumley, Ian Herbers, John Farlinger, Tom Richards, Dan Kepley, Larry Wruck, Gary Lefebvre, Glenn Harper, Todd Storme and Bob Stauffer all lent their celebrity status to make the Kids Kottage Classic the best that it could be.
While there are never any losers at our golf tournament there are some winners. First and foremost of course, the children and families we serve at Kids Kottage were the biggest winners, followed by the first place team of Jordan Adams, Dave Locke, James Malkin and Kelly Pawlik from Oxford Properties Group.
Mark Carnduff, Lowell MacDougall, Jamaes Porter and Patrick Rokosh made up the ‘Most Honest Team on the course.
All who enjoyed the tasty banquet were treated to the fireside chat of Craig MacTavish and Rod Stauffer. The live auction was exciting and entertaining and, along with an excellent silent auction, rounded out a great day of golf and charity.
