Special thanks to John Farlinger of Farlie Travel for putting together three of the six unbelievable auction packages at last Friday night’s Kids Kottage Gala held in the stunningly-decorated (kudos to Katherine Lomax of Elegant Touches) Empire Ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald.
What a perfect venue for this sold-out James Bond-themed event that, at $350 a ticket, proved to be a genuine bargain.
Sureway Construction boss Dennis Rourke, Cash Store Financial CEO Gordon
Reykdal, and Cottswood Interiors GM Dan Holman were all aggressive
bidders in the auction.
Off to see London and many of the locations used as settings for
countless Bond classics are United Communities VP Peter Cavanagh, and
Sherrick Management’s Jim Brown, each shelling out $12,000 for the
opportunity.
Co-chair Judith Dyck confirmed this year’s event raised $30,000 more
than last year, good news for those families in need of a safe place
like Kids Kottage to shelter their children during times of domestic
crisis.
